Auteur director Soubi Yamamoto is helming a new original anime DVD project from CoMix Wave Films titled Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. (That Boy Can Fight the Aliens.) A website launched on Friday.
Anime Synopsis:
The anime’s website describes Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu. as a “pitiful and beautiful adolescent story.” Aliens suddenly invade the world, and a boy named Kakashi stands alone with the power to fight back against the aliens — except he lost his memories.
Background Information:
21-year-old Yamamoto was inspired to work in anime from watching Makoto Shinkai’s 2002’s Voices of a Distant Star when she was a 15-year-old in middle school. Not coincidentally, CoMix Wave Films released many of Shinkai’s works.
Before Kono Danshi, Uchū-jin to Tatakaemasu, Yamamoto directed the opening sequences and promotional videos for boys-love dōjin games and the iPhone app Rōdoku Shōjo. Below is a video sample of Sekai Kei Sekai Ron, Yamamoto’s 2010 work which was featured on the show Digista Teens (which airs internationally on the NHK World channel).
