Double Helix Blossom, a new female “buddy action” manga written by Lycoris Recoil story draft writer Asaura, has begun serialization in Shogakukan’s Weekly CoroCoro Comic. The first chapter debuted on January 15 JST.
Double Helix Blossom takes place in a near-future Japan. One of the protagonists, Kiku Shinonome, is a cop who was put in cold sleep 60 years prior to the main story due to a serious injury that could not be treated at the time. Waking up to discover a new Japan where private police are now the norm and people with special abilities exist, Kiku finds herself partnered with the powerful, superpowered felon Kyo Tsukisagari.
The manga is drawn by Gomeyuki Nishiuma (Juu-nichi Ato ni Tsuki ni Kaeru Kaguya-hime). Illustrator SWAV is credited for “character production.”
Aside from Lycoris Recoil, Asaura is perhaps best known for Ben-to, the action comedy light novel series involving battles for half-priced bento. Other works they’ve written include Kiiroi Hana no Aka, Death Need Round, Knights of Sidonia: Kitto Arifureta Koi, and Lycoris Recoil: Ordinary Days.
