A two-minute main trailer has been released for the Doga Kobo original anime Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night. Aside from revealing the show’s April 6 premiere date, the promotional video features introductions to the main cast, previews of angsty and dramatic lines like “All I do is run away,” plus snippets of the newly revealed theme songs.
The opening theme song for Jellyfish Can’t Swim in the Night is “Irodori” by KanoeRana, while the ending song is “Ichinichi wa 25 Jikan” by Anna Tsurushima.
Additionally, it was revealed that Sumire Uesaka, Miho Okasaki, Yukina Shutou, and Sally Amaki will be playing supporting roles as idols Miko, Mero Seto, Momoko Yanagi, and Akari Suzumura, respectively.
The show’s story will follow an anonymous artist group called JELEE, which is composed of an illustrator on hiatus, a former idol, a self-proclaimed “strongest” VTuber, and a mysterious composer who wants to support the person she is a fan of. Ryouhei Takeshita (Eromanga Sensei and Pokémon: Paldean Winds director) is directing with series composition and scripts from Bottom-Tier Tomozaki author Yuuki Yaku and character designs from Junichirou Taniguchi (Sing Yesterday for Me). Taniguchi’s designs are based on drafts from illustrator popman3580.
