Earlier this month, a WIT STUDIO-produced anime music video for “Tokyo Clone,” a 2023 single from After The Rain (an artist duo comprising Soraru and Mafumafu), premiered at the After The Rain pop-up shop at Shibuya Sakura Stage. That video is now available to watch on Mafumafu’s YouTube channel.
“Tokyo Clone” is directed, storyboarded, and unit directed by animator Shun Miyakawa. Miyakawa also co-designed the music video’s characters with Hideki “HAHI” Hamazaki, drew some of the key animation, and supervised the animation as animation director. Other names in the staff credits include;
• Art director: Marunaga Shoten’s Kazuhiro Inoue (The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls U149)
• Color designer: Makiho Kondou (Inzai Aru Aru Monogatari)
• Compositing director: Folium’s Yuuta Oda (Project Sekai 3rd Anniversary Song “NEO” video co-2D works and motion graphics designer)
The video is “presented” by Creator’s Power Spot Harajuku, a joint initiative between Tokyu Land Corporation and Pony Canyon that seeks to make Harajuku and Jingumae even more attractive as locations. Shibuya Sakura Stage’s announcement of the pop-up store notes that After the Rain is a supporter of the project.
