Last weekend between March 9 and March 10, Toei Animation celebrated the 25th anniversary of the original Digimon Adventure TV anime series at Digimon Con 2024. The first anime series aired from March 7, 1999 to March 26, 2000.
A special commemorative visual and PV trailer featuring the anime franchise’s protagonists and Digimon creatures were revealed during Digimon Con 2024.


The trailer also highlights the opening theme songs of the first four Digimon TV anime series, which were all performed by the late Japanese pop singer Koji Wada and came from Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers, and Digimon Frontier. The songs featured include “Butter-Fly,” “Target ~ Red Shock”, “The Biggest Dreamer”, and “FIRE!!.”
Voice actresses Chika Sakamoto, Mayumi Yamaguchi, and Atori Shigematsu also provided special messages for Digimon Con 2024, who voice Agumon, Gabumon, and Piyo respectively.

The Digimon franchise first began in 1997 as a line of virtual pet toys, before inspiring several anime series that started in 1999. The franchise has also inspired several anime films, video games, manga series, an OVA, collectible card game, and more.
Recent entries in the franchise include the 2020 Digimon Adventure reboot series, 2021 Digimon Ghost Game, the Digimon Tri film series from 2015-2018, and the 2023 film Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning.
