GKIDS and Fathom Events have announced the return of Studio Ghibli Fest in North American theaters all throughout 2024. Both companies are planning to expand the event to even more theater screenings to meet increased fan demand.
Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 comes off the theatrical release and triumphant Oscar winning run of The Boy and the Heron, and will feature an all-new selection of iconic fan favorite films. This year’s lineup of films highlights the works of studio co-founders Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, as well as directors Yoshifumi Kondo, Hiroyuki Morita, and Hiromasa Yonebayashi.
The lineup additionally includes special celebrations for the 20th anniversary of Howl’s Moving Castle, the 25th anniversary of Kiki’s Delivery Service, and the 30th anniversary of Pom Poko. Each of the 14 animated features will be shown in both original Japanese and English dubbed versions, with special extra content included as well.
Tickets for Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 go on sale starting March 22, 2024 and can be purchased online by visiting Fathom Events website, Ghibli Fest’s official website, or at participating local theater box offices (which are subject to change).
Specialty retailer Hot Topic will also be celebrating Studio Ghibli Fest 2024, offering a 25% discount for in-store purchases when attendees show their Studio Ghibli Fest 2024 ticket stub.
