Japanese boy band and entertainment unit Strawberry Prince is receiving an anime film that will premiere in Japanese theaters this coming Summer 2024. The film is titled Gekijōban SutoPuri Hajimari no Monogatari: Strawberry School Festival!!!!.
A special teaser visual and 34-second trailer were also released, showcasing the colorful, everyday lives of the Strawberry Prince members.
Naoki Matsuura (Liar Liar) will be directing the anime film, with Chika Suzumura (Burn the Witch, Kurage no Shokudo) as scriptwriter, Yumi Nakamura (Liar Liar) as character designer, Takahiro Yoneda (Twin Angel: Twinkle Paradise) as art director, and STPR Records as music producer. LIDENFILMS is serving as the animation production company. .
The group’s leader Nanamori. is credited as the chief production supervisor and planning producer for the anime film, while his off-stage persona Masato Kashiwabara is credited with the original story.
Strawberry Prince (also known as StPri) was founded on June 4, 2016 by Nanamori and became well known for their popular song covers on Nico Nico Douga and other streaming sites. The six member unit uses stage names and illustrated avatars when they’re performing, never showing their real faces except at live performances and meetups.
The group has created several studio albums, mini albums, and extended plays, as well as inspiring a smartphone game and hosting their own radio talk show. They also performed theme songs for the Yo-kai Gakuen Y: N to no Sogu and Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress TV anime series. Some members of the group provided guest voices for characters in Yo-kai Gakuen.
