The Legend of Lara Croft Debuts on Netflix October 10, Adds Hayley Atwell as Lead Star

Netflix announced that the upcoming Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will debut on Netflix on October 10, 2024, with Hayley Atwell revealed as the lead voice actress of Lara Croft.

Other voice cast members in the show include Allen Maldonado as Zip and Earl Baylon as Jonah Maiava.

Netflix previously announced plans for a Tomb Raider animated show in 2021 with Tasha Huo as writer and executive producer and Dmitri M. Johnson, Stephan Bugaj, Howard Bliss, and Jacob Robinson as executive producers. Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania) is the animation studio for the show.

The series takes place after the “Survivor Trilogy” games, which serve as a reboot of the action-adventure video game series that were released between 2013 and 2018.

The first Tomb Raider game was released in 1996 for Sega Saturn, MS-Dos, and PlayStation. After the 2003 Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness game, the series’ main developer switched from Core Design to Crystal Dynamics. The Survivor trilogy was preceded by another reboot trilogy (released between 2006 to 2009) that is now called The Tomb Raider Trilogy, with the second entry being a remake of the original Tomb Raider.

The long-running video game franchise has also inspired two live-action film adaptations in 2001 and 2003, as well as a reboot film in 2018.

Netflix describes Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft as:

The animated series TOMB RAIDER: THE LEGEND OF LARA CROFT picks up after the events of the highly successful Tomb Raider video game Survivor trilogy (Tomb Raider; Rise of the Tomb Raider; Shadow of the Tomb Raider), and will chart the globetrotting heroine’s next chapter as the iconic adventurer. More than 25 years after her first appearance, Lara Croft (voiced by Hayley Atwell) continues to explore ancient mysteries and uncover lost truths across breathtaking and dangerous destinations.
