A main trailer and key visual have been released for the Shy anime’s second season, “Tokyo Dakkan-hen” (“Tokyo Recapture Arc”), which has a newly revealed premiere date of July 1 (effectively July 2 at 12 AM JST).
Additionally, Wataru Hatano, Hiro Shimono, and Izumi Kitta have been announced as additional cast members, playing the American hero Century, the ninja Tokimaru, and the villain Kuabara, respectively. Also, PassCode is the performing artist for the opening song, “WILLSHINE.”
The first season of Shy aired during the Fall 2023 anime season, with Crunchyroll and Muse Asia streaming overseas. The superhero anime is based on the Akita Shoten-published manga by Bukimi Miki, which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Champion in August 2019 and has 24 tankoubon volumes have been published as of May 2024.
Yen Press describes the manga as:
Earth was on the brink of a third World War when super-powered individuals came forth from each country around the globe, ending the conflict and ushering in a new era of relative peace. Among those heroes, Japan is represented by a timid young girl known as “Shy.” She may spend more time worrying about her own shortcomings than she does battling villains, but she’ll show the world that despite it all she still has the heart of a hero!
