The My Hero Academia manga will conclude in five chapters.
The ending of the Shueisha-published series will be printed in a double issue of Weekly Shonen Jump (accounting for 2024’s 36th and 37th issues) that goes on sale on August 5 JST.
My Hero Academia has been running for around 10 years, having first began serialization in July 2014. Its mangaka Kohei Horikoshi thanked readers in a message and apologized for the manga’s current two-week break (it will resume in issue 31) — he noted that there were multiple overlapping schedules and likened the situation to a mille-feuille.
The series has 40 tankoubon volumes as of April 2024. Viz Media publishes the manga in English and describes the premise as:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
A Bones-produced anime adaptation started airing in 2016 and debuted its seventh season on May 4 JST. The franchise’s fourth anime movie, My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next, will premiere in Japanese theaters on August 2.
