XSEED Games has announced that the remaster of Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana will be released in North America in early 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. Marvelous is handling the European and Australian releases.
This remaster of the action RPG will be playable at the Marvelous USA and XSEED Games booth at Anime Expo 2024.
One of the games in Nihon Falcom‘s long-running Ys series, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana was originally released in Japan in 2005 for Windows PC. It is a remake of 1989’s Ys III: Wanderers From Ys. A Switch remaster launched in Japan in 2023, and a PS5 and PS4 port followed in May 2024. The remaster is based on the 2010 PSP version of the game.
As XEED Games explains in a press release, the Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana remaster offers more difficulty options and quality-of-life features like a “Turbo” mode. The remaster’s “Refined” character illustrations can be switched back to the original versions “at a whim,” and protagonist Adol Christin now has a voice. There are also three remastered versions of the soundtrack — Original, PC-8801, and X68000.
A physical “Refined Edition” for the Switch and PS5 will be going on pre-order “soon” for US$59.99. It includes bonus items like a CD soundtrack (14 songs), an acrylic diorama and keychain set, four postcards with game art, and a graphic cleaner cloth. It will be pre-orderable at participating retailers and the XSEED Games Store.
The plot of the game is described as:
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana follows thrill-seeking protagonist Adol and his blue-haired companion Dogi as they return to Dogi’s homeland of Felghana. The eight years they’ve been away have not been kind to the lands which are now filled with roaming monsters, a newly active volcano, and a greedy new overlord extorting the suffering residents. While Dogi seeks help from his former master, Adol remains to help the locals, only to find himself embroiled in a world of conspiracies and ancient legacies.
The Ys series began in 1984, and the latest installment, Ys X: Nordics, was first released in 2023 in Japan. An English localization of Ys X: Nordics will be released for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC in Fall 2024.
