During an Anime Expo 2024 panel event for Blue Exorcist, a new key visual and trailer were revealed for the anime’s upcoming follow-up, Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga.
The new anime will air in consecutive cours for a half-year run starting October 2024, followed up by Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga in January 2025. Crunchyroll will stream both seasons as it airs in Japan.
The new English-subbed trailer features the return of Rin Okumura and his friends, and previews the new opening theme “RE RESCUE” by Reol.
Blue Exorcist previously made its return with the third season Blue Exorcist: Shimane Illuminati Saga, which aired starting in January 2024. It was directed by Daisuke Yoshida (Idol Incidents) at VOLN, which is returning to produce the two new follow-ups.
The first two seasons aired in 2011 and 2017, while a movie was released in 2012. The previous anime were produced by A-1 Pictures.
The original manga by Kazue Kato began its serialization in Jump Square on April 4, 2009 and has released 31 tankobon volumes as of June 2024.
Viz Media releases the manga in English for North America, describing the synopsis as:
Raised by Father Fujimoto, a famous exorcist, Rin Okumura never knew his real father. One day a fateful argument with Father Fujimoto forces Rin to face a terrible truth—the blood of the demon lord Satan runs in Rin’s veins! Rin swears to defeat Satan, but doing that means entering the mysterious True Cross Academy and becoming an exorcist himself. Can Rin fight demons and keep his infernal bloodline a secret? It won’t be easy, especially when drawing his father’s sword releases the demonic power within him!
