A second season of the A Couple of Cuckoos TV anime adaptation has been announced for release in 2025.
An announcement video confirming the production of the second season was released, along with various panels from the manga series and the tease of a new female character.
Original manga creator Miki Yoshikawa drew a new illustration featuring the new character to commemorate today’s announcement.
The first season of the anime adaptation premiered in Japan on April 24, 2022 and ended on October 2, 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the series worldwide, as it aired in Japan.
The staff for season one consisted of Hiroaki Akagi (Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 1–3) as chief director, Yoshiyuki Shirahata (Osamake: Romcom Where The Childhood Friend Won’t Lose storyboarder and episode director) as director, Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Season 1–3) as series composer, and Aya Takano (Teasing Master Takagi-san Season 1–3) as character designer. Shin-Ei Animation and SynergySP were in charge of the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:

A Couple of Cuckoos is based on the romantic comedy manga by Miki Yoshikawa, which began serialization in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on January 29, 2020 under the Kodansha Comics label. Twenty-three tankobon volumes have been released as of July 2024.
Kodansha USA releases the manga in English for North America, describing the synopsis as:
16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Meguro River Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
