Tower Of God: Why Did Bam Change His Name To Jue Viole Grace?

Tower God Season 2, much like Chainsaw Man’s second part, started with a change in POV. It was no longer The Twenty Fifth Bam that we were following. Instead we got a new character named Ja Wangnan, who himself has a mysterious past about him.

And along with Ja Wangnan, we get to know the powerhouse – the new slayer nominee- Jue Viole Grace. No one can blame you if you mistook Viole for a new character. The long hair and his visage were surely different.

Well, for anime watchers, the confusion was definitely short lived as Jue Viole Grace’s identity was strongly hinted at being Bam at the end of the first episode itself. The same cannot be said for the manhwa readers as theories had been making round for a long time if Viole and Bam were indeed the same person.

If you were one of those people who still hasn’t caught on – then yeah, Bam indeed is Jue Viole Grace.

However, despite that, an important question remains. Why did Bam decide to change his name and identity?

Why did Bam change his name?

To answer in short, Bam was given his new name Jue Viole Grace by the FUG in order to conceal his real identity.

The FUG had pulled off an elaborate plan colluding with a lot of people, even the test administrator on the second floor Han Sun Ya, in order to capture Bam and orcheste his death.

So it was only natural that they would try to hide his identity by giving him a new name. On top of that he was an irregular who had attracted the attention of even Yuri Jahad, a princess who was also a high ranker.

If word got out that Bam was still alive, then it would only have put a hitch in FUG’s plans. Naturally his friends and some influential people will come digging, and that would be a huge inconvenience. So concealing his identity was crucial for FUG.

I mean, even before Jue Viole Grace was introduced, Lero Ro felt that something was off and started investigating Bam’s death on his own.

But that’s not all. There’s also a meaning behind the name Jue Viole Grace that was given to Bam. The FUG actually put a lot of thought into the name.

Fair warning: The following section of the article contains spoilers from the manhwa.

The name Jue Viole Grace was given to Bam by the leader of FUG Grace Mirchea Lulsec. Bam’s name holds a deeper significance related to his heritage and also probably to his future.

Why? Because it is believed that parts of his name are actually derived from his parents – Arlene Grace his mother and his father who is only known by the name ‘V’. This was hinted at by Garam Jahad, who Bam meets on the Floor of Death.

The Grace in Jue Viole Grace is supposedly derived from his mother Arlene, and Viole was probably from his father’s ‘V’. It could also have been the real name of ‘V’.

However, SIU once said that the Viole in Jue Viole Grace was actually from the word Violet, so it is also possible that Jue was the real name of ‘V’ and passed down to Bam by Lulsec.

Now, why did Lulsec decide to give such a name to Bam? Well, it was because he was once a warlord who served under Bam’s father V. This was once again revealed by Garam Zahad in the Floor of Death.

It also ties in to Bam’s prophecy and might be related to FUG’s secret goal overall.

There are also theories in the fandom which suggest that Jue Viole Grace was the real name given to Bam by his mother. And Lulsec who had knowledge about this, decided to give Bam his true name.

However, this just remains a theory for now, and we have no confirmation about this yet!
