A TV anime adaptation of the Betrothed to my Sister’s Ex romance light novels has been announced to premiere in 2025. More details about the adaptation will be revealed by Futabasha at a later date.
The series (also known in Japanese as Zutaboro Reijo wa Ane no Moto Konyakusha ni Dekiai Sareru) began as a web novel written by Tobirano on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website in October 2019. Futabasha then published the light novels with new illustrations by Mai Murasaki in April 2020, with seven physical volumes released as of May 2024.
A manga adaptation by Chikage Nakagura began serialization on Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster website on July 24, 2020, with seven tankobon volumes released as of April 2024.
Comico’s Pocket Comics website is releasing the manga in English digitally, describing the main synopsis as:
With unmaintained red hair and shabby clothes, Marie, the baron’s daughter, has been treated like a servant all her life. Count Granado, the country’s richest man, who is said to be a difficult misogynist, falls in love with her at first sight. However, due to a misunderstanding, Count Granado proposes to her sister Anastasia, who looks like a princess, instead of the ragged Marie. A very popular work from “Become a Novelist”! Marie’s Cinderella story that began with a hero’s misunderstanding!
