The Shonen Jump YouTube channel has released a special trailer for Nobara Kugisaki, the badass, hammer-and-nail wielding Jujutser sorcerer from Gege Akutami‘s Jujutsu Kaisen series. The trailer premiered on August 7 JST, the character’s birthday.
Jujutsu Kaisen debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018 and has 27 tankoubon volumes as of July 2024. Viz Media describes the supernatural action manga as:
Although Yuji Itadori looks like your average teenager, his immense physical strength is something to behold! Every sports club wants him to join, but Itadori would rather hang out with the school outcasts in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club manages to get their hands on a sealed cursed object. Little do they know the terror they’ll unleash when they break the seal…
The manga has inspired a two-season MAPPA-produced TV anime adaptation. A continuation that will adapt the “Culling Game Arc” was announced after the conclusion of Season 2, which saw Shota Goshozono (Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 17, Ranking of Kings Episode 21, and Chainsaw Man Episode 8 storyboard artist and episode director) taking over director duties from Sunghoo Park (God of High School).
Jujutsu Kaisen was preceded by a four-chapter, one-volume manga that is now known as Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This prequel was adapted into an anime movie, also produced by MAPPA and directed by Park, that was released between the first two TV anime seasons.
