Fans of the BL romantic comedy Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! by Syundei have reason to celebrate as a TV anime adaptation of the manga has been officially announced on Aug 16, 2024.
A teaser visual and the anime’s new website have been unveiled along with the announcement.
The visual features Hirose, one of the main characters, in front of a cream soda, surrounded by chibi characters who are each depicted enjoying their time.
While further details regarding the cast and broadcast schedule are yet to be revealed, the official website for the anime adaptation has hinted at Aniplex’s involvement in the production, as the studio is listed in the website’s footer.
Syundei also released a commemorative illustration on their X account following the anime adaptation, asking fans to look forward to the main characters, Nakamura and Hirose, in action.
Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!, a much loved yaoi/BL manga, follows the story of Nakamura Okuto, a shy high school boy who is caught up in wild fantasies and mishaps while dealing with his unrequited love for his classmate, Hirose Aiki.
The series is known for its nostalgic art style, reminiscent of the 80s and 90s. The official website describes the series as follows:
“What should I do, I love him, I love him so much…! Nakamura Okuto, the protagonist, is an ordinary shy high school boy. With no friends, he encounters his classmate, Hirose Aiki. What is this feeling…? Though they’re not even friends yet, Nakamura’s heart races every day when he sees Hirose!!
The original series, along with its sequel Motto Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!, was serialized in OPERA (Akaneshinsha) between 2014 to 2021.
Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! was picked up for English release by Seven Seas Entertainment under the title Go For It, Nakamura!
To coincide with the anime announcement, new editions of volumes 1 and 2 were also released on Aug 16, 2024.
