Gege Akutami revealed a special message along with the announcement:

The story will finally come to its end in 5 more chapters. It’s thanks to all of your support and cooperation, dear readers, that I have been able to conclude the series the way I wanted to. Thank you! I’m working really hard to make a satisfactory final chapter (maybe) to as many ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ readers as possible. Everyone, please bear with me!!

The editor’s comments in chapter 266 had teased a crazy announcement regarding the series in the next chapter. The update seems to have confirmed the series’ end, unfortunately.

Fans have speculated about the future of the series ever since Akutami had commented at last year’s Jump Festa that Jujutsu Kaisen manga will end in 2024

And recently in a Q&A snippet at the Jujutsu Kaisen exhibition, Akutami confirmed that the ongoing Shinjuku Showdown Arc was indeed the final arc/part of the manga.

While hopeful fans had been assuming that JJK might just go on for another year, this news all but confirms the series’ end.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga began serializing in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018.

As of July 2024, the chapters of the manga have been collected into 27 tankobon volumes, with over 90 million copies in circulation.
