Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, a new TV anime in the Umamusume: Pretty Derby franchise, has been announced with a 2025 premiere date and teaser visual.
The main staff of Umamusume: Cinderella Gray includes Yuki Ito (takt op.Destiny) as director, Aki Kindaichi as series composer, and Takuya Miyahara (Frederica opening movie) and Keigo Sasaki (Blue Exorcist) as character designers. CygamesPictures is producing.
Umamusume: Cinderella Gray was originally a manga series drawn by Taiyo Kuzumi with Masafumi Sugiura (Umamusume S1 co-series composer) on script duties and Junnosuke Ito (S1 producer) handling the planning composition. The story is about Oguri Cap during her time at Kasamatsu Tracen Academy.
The manga has been serialized since 2020 in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump and will release its 16th volume on September 19, 2024 JST.
The Umamusume anime began in 2018 with a P.A.Works-produced TV anime series. This was followed by a second season produced by Studio KAI with assistance from P.A.Works, which premiered in 2021. 2023 had the CygamesPictures-produced web anime Umamusume: Pretty Derby — Road to the Top, which was streamed on the Pakatube YouTube channel, and the Studio KAI-produced third season.
Crunchyroll describes the first Umamusume season as:
This is a tale of a world where “horse girls”; with glorious names and incredible running abilities live alongside humanity. Horse girl Special Week has moved from the country to the city to attend Tracen Academy. There, she and her classmates compete to win the Twinkle Series and earn the title of “The County’s #1 Horse Girl.”
Aside from anime, the franchise includes works in other media like a social simulation game, manga, and stage play.
