Toho International has revealed a new poster visual for the upcoming North American release of My Hero Academia: You’re Next, which will premiere on October 11, 2024 in English subbed and dubbed. The fourth film in the long-running franchise was released in Japanese theaters on August 2, 2024.
The new visual features Izuku, Shoto, and Bakugo with a malicious silhouette of Dark Might in the background. It was designed by Yoshihiko Umakoshi, who served as animation director and main character designer for My Hero Academia: You’re Next.
Tensai Okamura (Darker Than Black, Wolf’s Rain, Blue Exorcist, Kuromukuro) is directing the film, with Kenji Nagasaki (director of the previous movies and TV series’ first three seasons, current chief director of TV series) as animation advisor, Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia series screenwriter, previous films’ scriptwriter) as scriptwriter, and Yuki Hayashi (returning) as music composer. Bones is in charge of the animation production.
The main voice cast from the TV anime series are all reprising their roles for the fourth film. Some of the new cast members for the film include Meru Nukumi as Anna Scervino and Mamoru Miyano as Giulio Gandini. All Might voice actor Kenta Miyake is also voicing the film’s antagonist, Dark Might.
The previous My Hero Academia films include 2018’s Two Heroes, 2019’s Heroes Rising, and 2021’s World Heroes’ Mission.
The My Hero Academia TV anime series first premiered in 2016 and is airing its current seventh season that began on May 4, 2024. Crunchyroll is streaming all seasons and previous films worldwide, outside of Japan.
The anime is based on the original manga series by Kohei Horikoshi, which ran in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from July 7, 2014 to August 5, 2024. A total of 41 tankobon volumes have been released as of August 2, 2024, with a 42nd and final volume due out in December 2024.
VIZ Media releases the manga series in English, which describes the main synopsis as:
Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
