Mori Calliope‘s “Go-Getters,” the ending theme song of the Suicide Squad ISEKAI anime, has gotten the anime music video treatment.
The animated video, which includes dancing sequences featuring Calliope and Harley Quinn, was directed and edited by Takashi Horiuchi (the director of Suicide Squad ISEKAI‘s ending animation) at WIT STUDIO. The dance choreographer and dancer is air:man.
In our email interview with Calliope, published in May, the hololive English VTuber said that “Go-Getters” was a song “about how life, even for just a normal person, can feel like a performance.” As she put it, “Whether it’s work, school, or social situations – you’re being judged and expected to walk on a fine line. So why not just kick back, have fun, and be yourself? Especially if you’re someone who doesn’t take the beaten path and lives life according to your own rules, or if you’re someone the world might try to make into a ‘villain’ for the way you present yourself. I’m a big fan of songs about ‘anti-villains’ who are just unapologetically free people who the world tries to make out to be bad for being different.”
Suicide Squad ISEKAI premiered internationally on June 27 and in Japan on July 5 JST. The series is based on the Suicide Squad anti-hero/supervillain team from DC Comics, which has inspired two live-action movies and the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League looter shooter video game.
