OSHI NO KO Opening “Idol” by YOASOBI Gets Vinyl Release Treatment


Milan Records announced that it will release OSHI NO KO‘s opening theme song “Idol” by YOASOBI on vinyl. The hit song last year Best Opening Song of the Year Awards at the 10th Anime Trending Awards and made the number one song on Apple Music’s Top 100: Global chart. Pre-orders are now available and the release is scheduled for November 15. 

The release features a single LP pressed on a 140gm translucent light blue disc, single pocket jacket, 12″ credit insert, and will include five different versions of “Idol,” including “Idol (English version),” and “Idol (Anime Edit)”, as well as three versions of “Tabun”. 

 

“Idol” was released on streaming services on April 12, the same date as the OSHI NO KO anime’s premiere, and had its CD release on June 21 in Japan. It is based on the “45510” story penned by the OSHI NO KO manga’s writer Aka Akasaka. The music video was also released on April 12, while an English version debuted on May 25. The former has over 180 million views on YouTube at the time of writing, while the latter has 16 million.

The OSHI NO KO anime is directed by Daisuke Hiramaki (Selection ProjectAsteroid in Love) at Doga Kobo with Chao Nekotomi (Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie opening director and storyboarder, Selection Project Episode 7 dance part director and storyboarder et al.) as assistant director, Kanna Hirayama (Rent-A-Girlfriend) as character designer and chief character designer, and Jin Tanaka (Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Laid-Back Camp) as series composer. HIDIVE and Bilibili are streaming the entertainment industry-themed show outside of Japan.
