The Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta anime is based on the novel submission of the same name by Yuzuki Akasaka, which was selected as the winner of Project ANIMA’s Isekai/Fantasy category. It was serialized on the Everystar website from March 2018 to September 2019.
Project ANIMA is a joint initiative by DeNA, Nippon Cultural Broadcasting, Sotsu, and MBS that focuses on the production of original TV anime, based on submitted novels, scripts, manga, and proposals that will serve as the shows’ premises. Other categories include Science Fiction/Robot and Kids/Game.
The 2021 anime series Sakugan was the Science Fiction/Robot category winner. The Kids/Game winner, Mobius Dust, is also inspiring an anime from Doga Kobo. Project ANIMA’s submission and selection processes took place between February 2018 and March 2019.
Maho Tsukai ni Narenakatta follows a young air-headed girl named Kurumi Mirai, who idolizes mages, and Yuzu Edel, the daughter of a prestigious magic family. Together, they study at a magic academy that’s filled with complicated classmates, a suspicious association, and a hidden secret.
