During the Aniplex Online Fest stream earlier this week, Aniplex revealed a first new official Japanese language PV trailer for bilibili’s To Be Hero X donghua animated series, which confirmed the main cast, staff, and 2025 premiere date.
The series is scheduled to broadcast in Japan on Fuji TV. Crunchyroll will stream the anime worldwide excluding Asia.
The Japanese dub cast for To Be Hero X includes:
- • Mamoru Miyano as X
- • Natsuki Hanae as Nice
- • Nobunaga Shimazaki as E-Soul
- • Koichi Yamadera as Ahu
- • Inori Minase as Lucky Cyan
- • Ayane Sakura as Loli
- • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Little Johnny
- • Yuichi Nakamura as Ghostblade
- • Koki Uchiyama as Dragon Boy
- • Kana Hanazawa as Queen
Li Haolin is credited with the original work and is serving as the director for the series, in collaboration with bilibili and Aniplex. Hiroyuki Sawano is composing the show’s main theme “Jeopardy.” Sawano, Kohta Yamamoto, Kenmochi Hidefumi, DAIKI (AWSM.), Shuhei Mutsuki, Hideyuki Fukasawa, Misaki Umase, and Ryūichi Takada (monaca) are all credited as music composers. BeDream is handling the animation production for the series.
The original To Be Hero donghua series ran in Japan for 12 episodes from October to December 2016, with Studio LAN handing the animation production. Crunchyroll also streamed the series as it aired in Japan and each episode was 11 minutes long. The sequel series, To Be Heroine, aired in May 2018, with Studio LAN and Haoliners Animation League handling the animation production. Haolin previously directed both of these two series.

This is a world where heroes are created by people’s trust, and the hero who has received the most trust is known as – X. In this world, people’s trust can be calculated by data, and these values will be reflected on everyone’s wrist. As long as enough trust points are obtained, ordinary people can also have superpowers and become superheroes that save the world. However, the ever-changing trust value makes the hero’s path full of unknowns…
