A new key visual and PV trailer have been revealed for the upcoming Blue Miburo TV anime series, which will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 19, 2024.
The new visual spotlights the main character, Nio Chirinu, training with a wooden sword, while the trailer showcases several of the series’ supporting characters.
Kumiko Habara (Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp) is directing the anime, with Kenta Ihara (Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy) as series screenwriter, Yuko Oba (Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp) as character designer, Miyako Nishida (Rainbow Days) as character designer, and Yuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) as music composer. MAHO FILM is handling the animation production.
Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast includes:
- • Shuichiro Umeda as Nio Chirinu
- • Yohei Azakami as Toshizo Hijikata
- • Kensho Ono as Okita Souji
- • Chiaki Kobayashi as Hajime Saito
- • Shun Horie as Taro Tanaka
The anime is based on the historical samurai manga series by Tsuyoshi Yasuda, which was launched in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine on October 13, 2021. Fourteen tankobon have been released as of July 2024.
Kodansha USA releases the Blue Miburo manga in English under the title The Blue Wolves of Mibu, describing the main synopsis as:
Nio is an orphan who can’t help dreaming of a better world. In this action-packed manga, he meets two men who show him how much a few swords can change history.
This riveting samurai series from the acclaimed creator of Days shares its setting with Rurouni Kenshin and chronicles the founding of the Shinsengumi by handsome and volatile men fighting for justice…and for themselves!
