Let This Grieving Soul Retire Reveals New Main Visual, Trailer & More Cast Members


A new main key visual, PV trailer, and three more cast members have been revealed for the upcoming Let This Grieving Soul Retire TV anime adaptation. The series will begin streaming early in Japan on September 29, 2024 and will be released on TV broadcasting and Crunchyroll on October 1, 2024.

The new trailer previews the opening theme song “Kattō Tomorrow” by Lezel and the ending theme song “Scream!” by Pmarusama.

Three more cast members are also joining the series, which include Jun Fukuyama as Ark Rodin, Akio Otsuka as Gark Welter, and Haruka Michii as Kaina.

They join the anime’s main voice cast that stars: 

  • • Kensho Ono as Krai
  • • Miyu Kubota as Tino
  • • Fairouz Ai as Liz Smart
  • • Konomi Kohara as Sitri Smart 
  • • Kohei Amasaki as Luke Sykol 
  • • Tomokazu Sugita as Ansem Smart and Narrator
  • • Aoi Koga as Lucia Rogier

Masahiro Takata (The Family Circumstances of the Irregular Witch, The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) is directing the anime, with Hideki Shirane (The Duke of Death and His Maid, Date A Live Season 1 to 3) as series screenwriter, and Yusuke Isochi (Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It) and Shingo Fujisaki (Skip and Loafer Episode 4 co-animation director, Undead Murder Farce Episode 3, 4, and 13 co-animation director) as character designers. ZERO-G is handling the animation production.  

The original light novel series is written by Tsukikage and illustrated by Chyko. It was first published by Micro Magazine’s GC Novels label on August 30, 2018, with 11 volumes being released as of February 2024. A 12th volume is due out on September 30, 2024. J-Novel Club is releasing the light novel series in English digitally after Sol Press’ license for the series expired in 2021. 

The series began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro on January 27, 2018 and has also inspired a manga by Rai Hebino in 2019. Yen Press releases the manga adaptation in English for North America.

J-Novel Club describes the synopsis of the Let This Grieving Soul Retire light novels as:

It’s the golden age for treasure hunters—adventurers hungry for wealth, fame, power, and glory, who risk their lives in treasure vaults throughout the world. “Let’s become treasure hunters.” Krai and his childhood friends swore to become the greatest of them all, but that dream should have died the day Krai realized he wasn’t cut out for the job! Yet expectations continue to mount, right along with Krai’s fear for his life. While his childhood friends climb closer toward their dream, this grieving soul has one simple wish: to pack it all in and retire!
