The March issue of Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Newtype Ace magazine announced that Michio Murakawa will launch the manga adaptation of the Space Battleship Yamato 2199 anime project in the next issue on March. The manga will begin with a 63-page installment, and the late Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Nobuteru Yuki are credited with the original story and character designs, respectively.
Murakawa previously contributed to the Studio DNA’s Uchū Senkan Yamato -Harukanaru Hoshi Iscandar- Comic Anthology book in 2000. Not coincidentally, Evangelion director Hideaki Anno contributed an illustration to the same anthology, and he is storyboarding Yamato 2199’s opening footage. The first two episodes of the anime itself will premiere in screenings in 10 theaters in Japan on April 7.
