Bandai Namco Filmworks has officially announced premiere dates for the highly anticipated Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM anime film in the United States. The premiere will be held in in two major cities, Los Angeles and New York City, both scheduled to take place on March 31, 2024.
The Los Angeles premiere will be held at the Regal L.A. Live theater and will be a star-studded affair featuring special guest appearances by the Japanese voice actors of Kira Yamato (Soichiro Hoshi) and Lacus Clyne (Rie Tanaka).
Joining them will be NYAV Post owner and English producer, Michael Sinterniklaas, and Stephanie Sheh, the English voice of Lacus Clyne.
Meanwhile, the New York City premiere will be taking place at Japan Society and will also feature a special guest. Alyson Leigh Rosenfield, the English voice of Lunamaria, will be gracing the event with her presence. Additionally, attendees will be treated to a special video message from the film’s director, Mitsuo Fukuda.
Tickets for both screenings, in both Standard and Premium categories, will be available for purchase on March 12, 2024. Tickets for the Los Angeles screening can be purchased at the Eventbrite website and tickets for the New York City screening at the Japan Society website.
Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom is a 2024 Japanese mecha animated film produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks and its animation studio Sunrise and directed by Mitsuo Fukuda. The film is a sequel to both Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny, taking place one year after the events of SEED Destiny.
The film released in Japan on Jan 26, 2024.
Just three days after its release, Gundam SEED Freedom sold 630,000 tickets and raked in an impressive 1.06 billion yen (approximately US$7.20 million), marking the most successful three-day opening for any Gundam movie to date. Within the following week, it soared to become the highest-grossing Gundam film of all time, surpassing Mobile Suit Gundam III: Encounters in Space, with total earnings reaching 2.68 billion yen (about US$17.94 million).
