The official X account of Bocchi the Rock! anime announced that the series’ compilation movies together have surpassed the significant milestone of 1 billion yen at the Japanese box office.
The first part of the compilation, Bocchi the Rock! Re:, which released on June 7, attracted 420,000 viewers, earning 640 million yen. The film had grossed over 218,478,888 yen and attracted 141,113 moviegoers in its first three days.
The second part, Bocchi the Rock! Re:Re:, which released on Aug 9, 2024, has drawn in 250,000 viewers, generating an additional 390 million yen.
Combined, the two movies have surpassed the 1 billion yen mark.
Additionally, the third-week special bonus for attendees of the second movie was also announced along with the revenue milestone.
Starting from Aug 24, 2024 moviegoers will receive a miniature figure which can be attached to smartphone charging cables.
The first compilation movie too had a similar giveaway, which featured figures of Hitori Gotoh and Nijika Ijichi.
Bocchi the Rock! is a Japanese four-panel manga series written and illustrated by Aki Hamaji. It was initially serialized on Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Max magazine on Dec 19, 2017, as a guest work.
A full serialization started in the same magazine on March 19, 2018. It has been collected into six tankōbon volumes as of Aug 25, 2023.
An anime adaptation produced by CloverWorks aired from October to December 2022.
The story follows Hitori Gotoh, a socially awkward and introverted girl, as she joins the band “Kessoku Band” and grows alongside her unique bandmates Nijika Ijichi, Ryo Yamada, and Ikuyo Kita.
