Crackle has begun streaming distribution of an English dub of Madhouse’s violent 2008 samurai sci-fi/fantasy action anime series Kurozuka. The adaptation of Baku Yumemakura novel stars an immortal samurai who follows his vampiric lover through the centuries. The series has never been previously officially available in America.

Crackle Distributes Kurozuka

Excepting the heavy and obvious parallels to Highlander, this is a spectacular and severely under appreciated anime series. While I’m glad to see it finally get an official American release, I can’t help be disappointed that it’s seemingly getting dumped online with a mass-market dub, little concern for its original artistic integrity, and no home video release.
