The Demon Slayer franchise has surpassed a cumulative shipment of 3 million units for its Blu-ray and DVD releases, according to an announcement on the official X account.
The post on X stated, “The Demon Slayer anime series’ Blu-ray and DVD shipments have surpassed a total of 3 million units. Thank you to everyone who has supported us. The BD/DVD purchase campaign is still ongoing, and we have decided to add a special commemorative prize for surpassing 3 million units.”
This update comes on the same day, Aug 7, 2024, that Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc DVD and Blu-ray’s 2nd volume released. The cover art features Shinobu, Giyu and Tengen Uzui.
Breakdown of Sales
- Demon Slayer TV Anime Series: 940,000 units
- Demon Slayer Movie Mugen Train: 1,990,000 units
- Demon Slayer Event Series: 73,000 units
- Total: over 3,000,000 units
The campaign in question involves customers receiving a scratch card that reveals a prize instantly on purchasing Blu-Ray or DVD items at participating stores.
DVD Blu-ray Purchase Campaign Details

- Period: March 26, 2024 – Until supplies last
- Details: Customers who purchase related Blu-ray or DVD items at participating stores will receive a scratch card that reveals a prize instantly.
- Campaign 2:
- Period: July 2, 2024 – Until supplies last
- Details: Customers who purchase the Hashira Training Arc Blu-ray or DVD at participating stores will receive a scratch card that reveals a prize instantly.
The prizes include big stuffed toys of the characters, special illustrations and canvas boards among others.
Demon Slayer is based on the manga of the same name, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020.
The most recent instalment of the anime adaptation, the Hashira Training Arc, aired from May to June 2024. Additionally, it has been announced that the Demon Slayer franchise will produce a three-part theatrical adaptation of the Infinity Castle arc, with Crunchyroll and Sony distributing the film worldwide.
