Detective Conan’s 27th Feature Film Unveils New Trailer Previewing Theme Song


The official website of Detective Conan unveiled a second trailer for its upcoming 27th feature film, titled  Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Signpost, on Feb 15, 2024. The trailer previews the theme song for the film.

Japanese singer and songwriter aiko performed the theme song “Soushi Souai” (Mutual Love).

aiko expressed her enthusiasm on performing the theme song, stating, “I was so surprised and happy that I worked really hard every day.” Quoting a line by Shinichi, she added, “Shinichi once said, ‘Some things can only be conveyed through words,’ but I believe there are also things that can only be conveyed through music.

Detective Conan: The Million-Dollar Signpost is scheduled to release in Japanese theatres on April 12, 2024.

Chika Nagaoka will serve as the director, with screenplay by Takahiro Okura.

In Hakodate, Hokkaido, a foreboding announcement arrives from the Kaito Kidat the repository of the Onoe Zaibatsu. This time, Kid is targeting a Japanese sword with connections to Toshizo HIijikata, the vice commander of Shinsengumi, who lived in the end of Edo period. As Kid pursues the Big Jewel, the question arises: why is he after a sword?

Meanwhile, the renowned detective from the west, Heiji Hattori, along with Conan and others, visits Hakodate for a kendo tournament. On the day of the anticipated crime, Heiji successfully exposes Kid’s disguise and corners him…!?

Simultaneously, a lifeless body marked with a cross-shaped cut is discovered in Hakodate’s warehouse district. The investigation leads to the emergence of the ‘Merchant of Death,’ a Japanese-American involved in arms dealing across Asia.. He was in pursuit of a treasure hidden by by the first head of the Onoe family, heavily involved in the war industry during the World War II. Rumor has it that this treasure is a formidable weapon capable of turning the tide of Japan’s bleak wartime situation. Moreover, it appears a connection exists between this treasure and the sword Kid is targeting. As Kid sets his sights on the sword, the shadow of a mysterious ‘warrior’ looms closer!

The 26th feature film, Detective Conan: Kurogane no Submarine released on April 14, 2023, and set a new record to become the first film of the franchise to earn 10,304,483,700 Billion Yen at the box office.

Twenty-six feature films based on the Case Closed series have been released. They are animated by TMS Entertainment and produced by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation, Nippon Television, ShoPro, and Toho. The first seven were directed by Kenji Kodama, films 8–14 were directed by Yasuichiro Yamamoto, films 15-21 were directed by Kobun Shizuno, film 22 was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa, films 23 and 24 were directed by Chika Nagaoka, and film 25 was directed by Susumu Mitsunaka.

Detective Conan, is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. It has been serialized in Shogakukan’s shōnen manga magazine Weekly Shonen Sunday since January 1994, with its chapters collected in 102 tankōbon volumes as of September 2022.

Due to legal problems with the name Detective Conan, the English language releases from Funimation and Viz were renamed to Case Closed.

The anime version of Case Closed is produced by Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation and TMS Entertainment. Over 1000 episodes have aired in Japan since the anime’s premiere on January 8, 1996, making it the fifteenth longest anime series to date.
