Miyu Irino has been announced as the new voice actor for Sabo in One Piece anime. Irino will take over the role from Toru Furuya, starting with episode 1116, which will air on Aug 18, 2024.

Irino is known for his roles in Spirited Away as Haku, A Silent Voice as Shoya Ishida, Mob Psycho 100 as Ritsu Kageyama, Eyeshield 21 as Sena Kobayakawa, among others.

The preview of the episode can be viewed below:

Furuya stepped down from the role following a scandal involving a long-term extramarital affair with a fan. The affair, which involved assault and coerced abortion, was brought to light during an interview with the Japanese weekly magazine, Shukan Bunshun.

The fan came forward to prevent Furuya from repeating the same mistakes with others. Following the revelation, Furuya issued a public apology on his official X account.

The scandal has led to Furuya being replaced in other roles as well. However, his replacement for the character in Detective Conan has yet to be announced.
