My Hero Academia: You’re Next Movie’s North American Theatrical Release Date Revealed


During a special My Hero Academia panel hosted by TOHO animation at Anime Expo, it was officially announced that the latest movie in the franchise, My Hero Academia: You’re Next, will be released in North American theatres on Oct 11, 2024.

A new key visual was also revealed to commemorate the announcement.

More details regarding the theatre and ticket details are yet to be revealed.

My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: You’re Next is scheduled to hit the Japanese theatres on Aug 2, 2024.

Tensai Okamura will serve as the director for the anime film.

Other staff includes:

  • Character Designer: Yoshihiko Umakoshi
  • Music Composer: Yuki Hayashi
  • Animation Advisor: Kenji Nagasaki
  • Animation Studio: bones

The movie will be based on an original story by author Kohei Horikoshi, who will also be handling the character designs and be in charge of general supervision of the movie. The author said that the events of the movie will align with the chronology of the My Hero Academia anime.

The movie is set in the same timeline as the seventh season of the anime.

My Hero Academia is a manga series written and illustrated by Kōhei Horikoshi. It has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump since July 2014, with its chapters collected into 40 tankobon volumes as of April 2024. The series has numerous spin-off manga, including My Hero Academia: Smash!!, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes and My Hero Academia: Team-Up Missions.

It has also been adapted into an anime series by Bones.

The first season aired in Japan from April to June 2016, followed by a second season from April to September 2017, then a third season from April to September 2018, a fourth season from October 2019 to April 2020, a fifth season from March to September 2021, a sixth season from October 2022 to March 2023, and a seventh season which premiered in May 2024.

It has also received three animated films, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, and My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, and nine original video animations (OVAs).
