In an online journal entry on Friday, acclaimed science-fiction author Yasutaka Tsutsuireported that he confered over plans for an anime adaptation of his recent light novel Bianca Overstudy “among various other topics” with Kodansha editor Katsushi Ohta and Aniplex producer Atsuhiro Iwakami the day before. Tsutsui (The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Paprika, Mirai Kara Shōnen Super Jetter) launched this novel with three chapters in the seventh volume of Kodansha‘s literary magazine Faust in 2008, and Noizi Ito (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Shakugan no Shana) drew the illustrations.
The story of adolescence with science-fiction undertones revolves around Bianca Kitamachi, a schoolgirl of unrivaled beauty. To study the reproduction of sea urchins, she conducts questionable experiments over and over again, and strange events begin taking place.
