‘SPY X FAMILY CODE: White’ Anime Film Crosses 4 Billion Yen In Japan


SPY×FAMILY CODE: White anime film continues to reign supreme at the Japanese box office, retaining its top position for the third consecutive weekend. As of its 18th day of screening on Jan 8, 2024, the film has sold 3.29 million tickets, and earned total of 4.41 billion yen (about US$30.6 million).

As previously revealed, in the 13 days of its screening upto Jan 3, 2023, the film attracted an impressive audience of 2,599,850 people, with its box office revenue reaching a total of 3.4 billion yen (about US$23.62 million).

In its second weekend alone, from Dec 29-31, 2023, SPY×FAMILY CODE: White sold 585,000 tickets, raking in 800 million yen (approximately US$5.56 million).

SPY x FAMILY CODE: White anime film released in Japan on Dec 22, 2023. It earned 1.224 billion yen (about US$8.61 million) in the first three days of it’s release, with an audience turnout of 866,436.

The movie is an anime original, with Ichiro Okouchi working on the script.

Takashi Katagiri served as the director of the movie, with Kazuhiro Furuhashi supervising the animation.

Crunchyroll had previously announced that they will be releasing the upcoming SPY x FAMILY CODE: White anime film worldwide in collaboration with Sony Pictures in 2024.

The film will be released in select theatres in North America, Latin America, Australia/New Zeleand and select countries in Europe, which includes Austria, Benelux, France, Germany, Italy, the Nordics, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland.

Spy × Family is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo. The series has been serialized biweekly on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ application and website since March 2019, with the chapters collected in eleven tankobon volumes as of April 2023. It was licensed in North America by Viz Media.
