A TV anime adaptation of the Ameku Takao medical mystery novel series has been announced with a teaser visual.
The anime is titled Ameku Takao’s Detective Karte, the name used by the numbered entries in the book series written by Mikito Chinen and illustrated by Noizi Ito. The titular Ameku Takao is a brilliant doctor at Tenikai General Hospital’s special department that deals with tricky-to-diagnose cases.
The first Ameku Takao book was released in 2014. Between then and 2022, 13 volumes were published by Shinchosha. In October 2023, Jitsugyo no Nihonsha announced that it would be releasing three new volumes and 13 kanzenbans across seven consecutive months.
April 5, 2024 will see the launch of Terror at Absolute Zero: Ameku Takao’s Crime Karte, the 16th new Ameku Takao novel, and the kanzenban The Organ Organizer: Ameku Takao’s Crime Karte.
An Ameku Takao’s Detective Kare manga adaptation drawn by Hiroki Ohara ran from 2016 to 2018 and was collected into four tankoubon volumes.
