KOEI TECMO has released a new trailer and a preview video for Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land, the recently announced latest entry in the Atelier series of alchemy-themed JRPGs. A March 21, 2025 release date was revealed as well.
The preview shows off the main aspects of the game — combat, exploration, the item-crafting Synthesis system, and base-building. Junzo Hosoi, the head of developer Gust, says in the video that Atelier Yumia‘s “renewed” version of Synthesis allows players to “manipulate the mana residing in the ingredients on the field and perform simple synthesis.”
Also revealed were the game’s main supporting characters — who are all members of the Aladiss Research Team that the titular protagonist joins — and the main voice cast. They are:
• Wakana Kuramochi as Yumia Liessfeldt
• Makoto Furukawa as Viktor von Duerer
• Kaori Maeda as Isla von Duerer
• Jun Fukuyama as Rutger Arendt
• Mikako Komatsu as Nina Friede
• Yoshino Aoyama as Lenja
The character descriptions can be found on the game’s website.
Atelier Yumia was unveiled at the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase on August 27 JST. It will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Steam, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Atelier Yumia is the first title in the series, which began in 1997, to be released on Xbox consoles.
The premise is described as:
The Aladissian Empire.
It once thrived on a certain continent,
having achieved remarkable development through alchemy that kept other nations at bay.
However, it met its end due to a sudden and mysterious cataclysm.
Time progressed, and several centuries later─
Alchemy became known as a “dangerous art that brings destruction,”
and considered “evil” and “taboo” in this new era.
In this now forbidden and perilous land, a lone alchemist sets foot.
Her name is Yumia Liessfeldt.
After losing her mother in an accident three years ago,
Yumia discovered that she was from a family of alchemists and began to question many things.
Why did Aladiss fall?
Why did alchemy become “taboo”?
…Is alchemy truly “evil”?
Believing that all truths lie within the continent,
Yumia embarks on a journey to uncover its lost history.
The previous mainline Atelier entry was the free-to-play mobile and PC (via Steam) title Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, which first debuted on Android and iOS in Japan on September 23, 2023.
