An anime adaptation of the Baki-Dou manga has been announced.
Baki-Dou is the fourth chapter of Keissuke Itagaki‘s Baki martial arts saga, taking place after Baki Hanma’s battle with his father. The manga ran from 2014 to 2018 in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion and is collected into 22 tankoubons.
The franchise started with 1991’s Baki the Grappler, and there are currently seven main Baki series plus various spin-offs. Baki Rahen, which began in 2023, is the latest main entry.
After a 1994 OVA and a 2001 TV series, Baki was brought back as an anime in 2018 as a Netflix series. Netflix has also streamed 2021’s Baki Hanma and 2023’s Baki Hanma Season 2, and has recently announced the Baki Hanma VS Kengan Ashura crossover anime, which premieres on July 6 this year.
Netflix describes 2018’s Baki as:
While martial arts champion Baki Hanma trains hard to surpass his legendary father, five violent deathrow inmates descend upon Tokyo to take him on.
