Card-en-Ciel, an upcoming “deckbuilding, roguelite RPG adventure” set in a digital world, has received a gameplay reveal trailer and an October 24, 2024 launch date.
March’s Project Kickoff Trailer and its video description already provided a general overview of the INTI CREATES title, so the new trailer is mostly a chance to watch more gameplay.
In Card-en-Ciel, a VR game suddenly becomes “invaded” by characters from different games, causing developer Ancie (EN: Cristina Vee, JP: Ruriko Noguchi) to approach virtual detective Neon (EN: Aleks Le, JP: Tomohiro Ono) for his help. This means that Neon has to dive into over 10 dungeons to gather cards and defeat their respective boss to progress. Dungeon exploration features an isometric perspective while battles place the 2D sprites on a 6×3 grid plane with a closer camera angle
Characters from other INTI CREATES games will be among the cards, and players can also expect hidden “glitch” abilities and lines of dialogue from their deck. Aside from the character cards, which number at more than 300, there are Muses that provide songs with support abilities. There are 50 of these songs, and each has a trigger condition for their effects.
For added replay value, beating a dungeon unlocks 10 more difficulty levels that introduce “new rules” in addition to tougher enemies, and there are Grand Dungeons that will let you bring any card you’ve found. On top of that, there will be 1v1 multiplayer and, according to the system requirements section of Card-en-Ciel‘s Steam page, daily and weekly dungeons.
Card-en-Ciel will launch on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S, and Steam.
