Dark Machine Mecha Game Unveils 1st Animated Pilot Trailer

A new animated pilot trailer has been unveiled for the Dark Machine the Animation anime project, which was debuted by the game’s staff at their panel during the weekend of San Diego Comic Con. The anime will be distributed globally later.

Kazumi Terada directed the short 36-second pilot trailer, with Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, ESTAB LIFE: Great Escape) as creative producer, Hidetaka Tenjin (Macross Delta) as lead mech designer, and Production +h as the animation production company.

The pilot also lists writing credits from Team Carbuncle, which consists of Takaaki Suzuki, Tatsuhiko Urahata (Baki 2018, Hi Score Girl), and Atsuo Ishino (Baki Hanma vs Kengan Ashura).

The anime will include its own unique world setting that takes place “in the not too distant future” and feature a popular gaming metaverse.

The game’s synopsis is described by the staff as:

The year is 2079.

Humankind is living in an energy bubble after Dr. Robert Palmer discovered the Palmer crystal to give humankind all of the energy it would ever need and more. Unfortunately, not all of humankind has benefited from this hyper energy source and underground battles for this energy have developed at a global scale. The factory robots that have been helping to cultivate this energy of the future have been transformed to fighting mechs by these undergrounds and they are fighting for huge stakes.

However, dark energy is said to reside in small quantities in the Palmer crystal. The use of hyper AI technologies was used in an attempt to harness this dark energy and use it for battle advantages. It is currently unclear whether this dark energy can be controlled by mechs…

Dark Machine is a Web3 game that is described as an “asynchronous big team arena shooter” featuring destructible mechs and maps pitted against two parallel universes, The Light and The Dark. The game is a 7-versus-7 mech third-person shooting game and was developed using Unreal Engine 5. It will also feature blockchain-based in-game currency and NFT assets.

Taniguchi is credited as the creative producer on the game, while Tenjin is the chief mechanical designer. Yuya Saito is the game director and Koji Hakuta is the producer.

The game is slated for release in 2025, with early access set to begin in 2024.
