Pretty Derby Game in Development

The Umamusume: Pretty Derby social simulation game is getting an official English release.

A release date has yet to be revealed for the in-development title, but developer Cygames will have hands-on demos available at its Anime Expo 2024 booth. Attendees who drop by to try the horse girl training game will get a random Umamusume: Pretty Derby sticker.

Here’s how Cygames describes the game, which will be available on iOS and Android:

In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, you assume the role of a fledgling trainer at racing powerhouse Tracen Academy. Your task is to guide your trainee Umamusume to victory by directing her through a regimen of athletic training and races. Experience immersive gameplay, gripping stories, heart-pounding races, and vibrant concerts—all rendered and animated in stunning 3D. Your racer’s legend begins now!

Existing and prospective fans can also check out the game’s opening movie, featuring the song “Girls’ Legend U,” on the new Umamusume: Pretty Derby English YouTube channel.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby was originally released in February 2021 in Japan for iOS and Android after missing its original 2018 launch. A browser version hosted on DMM Games launched the following month.

The Cygames-created franchise also includes manga, live events, a stage play, and several anime installments. The first Umamusume manga ran from May to September 2016, while the first anime season premiered in 2018. The latest Umamusume anime is the Umamusume: Pretty Derby — Beginning of a New Era film, which started screening in Japan on May 24, 2024 JST.

Aside from the mobile game’s English release, international Umamusume fans also have the previously announced ARC SYSTEM WORKS-developed party game Umamusume: Pretty Derby – Party Dash, which is coming to Switch on August 30, to look forward to. Trying the demo for this at AX 2024 will reward attendees with an exclusive badge from a random Cygames title.
