Last August, it was announced that Naoko Yamada‘s Kimi no Iro was getting delayed from fall 2023 to 2024. Now, an August 30 Japanese release date has been revealed for Science Saru-produced title, and there’s also a “special” trailer that provides the first proper look at the upcoming original film and a poster visual.
In addition to all that, Takashi Kojima (The Heike Story, Ride Your Wave, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet) has been revealed as the movie’s character designer, while the cast members include Sayu Suzukawa as Totsuko, Akari Takaishi as Kimi, Taisei Kido as Lui, and Yuri Aragaki as Sister Hiyoshiko.
Check out the trailer, which features scenes strongly bathed in color and a catchy song, and the visual below:
Kimi no Iro will follow high school student Totsuko, who can perceive people’s emotions as colors. To avoid darkening the emotions of her friends and family, she has to tread lightly, read the air, and tell white lies. One day, she meets a beautiful girl in a secondhand bookstore who radiates a very beautiful color, as well as a boy who loves music. These three sensitive youngsters end up forming a band together.
The movie reunites Yamada with scriptwriter Reiko Yoshida (The Heike Story) and music composer Kensuke Ushio (Chainsaw Man). The trio previously collaborated on A Silent Voice, Liz and the Blue Bird, and The Heike Story, while Yamada’s relationship with Yoshida goes back to the first season of K-On! in 2009.
