The 4K screening is scheduled to begin on January 25, 2025 JST in 40 theaters nationwide, while the Blu-ray release — which is titled as the 4K Remaster Set and includes English subtitles — will happen on January 29 JST. The Blu-ray can also be pre-ordered online or purchased early at the screening’s locations.

The Macross: Do You Remember Love? 4K Remaster Set includes two discs. One offers a 2160p UHD with 16:9 aspect ratio experience, while the other is listed with 4:3 and 1080p HD. Macross: Do You Remember Love? is the theatrical version of the 1982-1983 TV series Super Dimension Fortress Macross. Its subtitle is also the name of the insert song “Do You Remember Love?” by the idol character Lynn Minmay (Mari Ijima). Blu-ray.com describes the plot as:

A.D. 2009: The human race is in the middle of a three-way war with a race of giant humanoid aliens split into the Zentrans (males) and Meltlans (females). After executing a space fold that sent it and part of South Ataria Island to the edge of the Solar System, the space fortress Macross is on its way back to Earth. During a small skirmish with Zentradi forces, young pilot Hikaru Ichijyo rescues idol singer Lynn Minmay and their relationship develops as they’re stranded somewhere within the ship. But shortly after returning to Macross City, Minmay is captured by the Zentradi, and Hikaru and female officer Misa Hayase end up back on Earth—only to view the aftermath of the destruction of their civilization.

Shoji Kawamori and the late Noboru Ishiguro co-directed Macross: Do You Remember Love?, with Kawamori also serving as story composer and one of the assistant mechanical designers. Sukehiro Tomita wrote the screenplay. Tatsunoko Production produced the film with assistance from Anime Friend and Yu Entertainment.

Macross: Do You Remember Love? is notably one of the titles in the mecha x romance x music Macross franchise that is not available for international streaming on Disney+.
