Mamoru Miyano & Meru Nukumi Join Cast of My Hero Academia the Movie: You’re Next Film


Mamoru Miyano and Meru Nukumi are joining the voice cast of the upcoming My Hero Academia the Movie: You’re Next anime film, which will be released in Japan on August 2, 2024. 

Nukumi will voice the elegant lady Anna Scervino, while Miyano voices her butler Giulio Gandini. Both characters are original additions to the film. 

Tensai Okamura (Darker Than Black, Wolf’s Rain, Blue Exorcist, Kuromukuro) is directing the anime film, with Kenji Nagasaki (director of the previous films and TV series’ first three seasons, current chief director of TV series) as animation advisor, Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia series composer, previous movies’ scriptwriter) as scriptwriter, and Yuki Hayashi as music composer. Bones is in charge of the animation production once again. 

My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next is the fourth anime film in the My Hero Academia franchise. The previous films were 2018’s Two Heroes, 2019’s Heroes Rising, and 2021’s World Heroes’ Mission.

The My Hero Academia TV anime series premiered in 2016 and is currently in its seventh season that began airing on May 4, 2024. Crunchyroll is streaming all previous seasons and films. 

The anime is inspired by the original manga series by Kohei Horikoshi, which began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on July 7, 2014 and has released 40 tankobon volumes as of April 2024. 

VIZ Media releases the My Hero Academia manga in English, describing the synopsis as:

Middle school student Izuku Midoriya wants to be a hero more than anything, but he hasn’t got an ounce of power in him. With no chance of ever getting into the prestigious U.A. High School for budding heroes, his life is looking more and more like a dead end. Then an encounter with All Might, the greatest hero of them all, gives him a chance to change his destiny…
