Shueisha’s MANGA Plus service announced earlier this past week that it will begin releasing one-shot manga titles from Shonen Jump+ in English simultaneously, beginning this September.
The one-shots will be available to read for free for the first 90 days. Afterwards, it will be available on the MANGA Plus MAX Deluxe subscriber plan.
The first simultaneous release from the service is “The Deep Sea of Words” by MUGISUKE, which is now available to be read on MANGA Plus.
Shueisha notes that some works may not be published on the service, depending on the original author’s wishes or the “editorial department’s judgment.” It also marks the first time a manga magazine app has translated and released one-shots simultaneously in Japan and around the world.
The MANGA Plus app service was launched by Shueisha on January 28, 2019 and is operated directly by the Japanese publisher’s editorial department to directly support its creators. It has featured many titles from Weekly Shonen Jump, as well as select titles from Jump Square, Weekly Young Jump, Tonari no Young Jump, and V Jump.
In October 2023, Shueisha launched the MANGA Plus MAX subscription service with a standard and deluxe plan.
MANGA Plus is available worldwide, except in Japan, China, and Korea. It is available to download on iOS and Android devices.
