The official Twitter account for Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara MAX magazine has released a collaboration front cover for its latest November 2024 issue of Is the Order a Rabbit? and Bocchi the Rock!.
The front cover celebrates the magazine’s 20th anniversary since its first independent issue was released on September 29, 2024. It features the respective main heroines from both manga series that are serialized in the magazine, highlighting Cocoa Hoto (left) from Is the Order a Rabbit? and Hitori “Bocchi” Goto from Bocchi the Rock! (right).
Manga Time Kirara MAX initially debuted as a special issue for the Manga Time Kirara magazine in May 2004. Despite the release date, the first magazine issue of MAX was released as the “November 2004” issue.
Koi’s Is the Order a Rabbit? slice of life manga series was first launched in Manga Time Kirara MAX in March 2011 and released a total of 12 tankobon volumes as of March 2024. Sol Press initially licensed the manga for release in the English language, before the company folded. Yen Press later relicensed the series for English release.
The manga has inspired three TV anime seasons, a 2017 anime film, a 2019 OVA, and a 2016 video game. HIDIVE is streaming all three anime series.
Yen Press describes the synopsis of the first volume as:
Lured in by the promise of cute bunnies, Cocoa stops by Rabbit House Café for a drink — only to find out it’s the very place she’ll be living…?! Inside, she meets small-but-aloof Chino, militaristic Rize, calm, traditional Chiyo, and Sharo, a normal girl who overflows with elegance. Watch the girls’ friendship deepen as the café bursts with cuteness and laughter from all directions!
Aki Hamazi’s Bocchi the Rock! manga was first released on Manga Time Kirara MAX on December 19, 2017 and has released six tankobon volumes as of August 2023, with a seventh volume due out on October 25, 2024.
The manga inspired a 12-episode TV anime adaptation from CloverWorks in 2022 and a manga spinoff centered on Kikuri Hiroi in July 2023.
Yen Press describes the synopsis of the first volume as:
Kessoku Band has successfully cleared the first round of auditions for the Unidentified Riot music festival, but this is no time to rest on their laurels. The next step is a death knell for introverts everywhere-a popularity contest! Every vote in the online poll matters when they’re trying to stand on the same stage as powerhouses like SIDEROS, so Bocchi will need to call in a favor from all the…friends she has? Um, is this the end of the line for Hitori Gotoh?!
