A fourth new character visual and short commercial have been unveiled for the upcoming Mayonaka Punch TV anime series, showcasing the bashful Fu (voiced by Hina Yomiya). The original anime will premiere in Japan sometime in July 2024.
Yomiya joins a voice cast that includes Ikumi Hasegawa as Masaki, Fairouz Ai as Live, and Yuina Itou as Ichiko, whose own respective character visuals and commercials were released earlier this week.
Osamu Honma (Ya Boy Kongming!) is directing the anime, with Harapeko Penguin Troupe’s Shirasaka Hideaki (Ya Boy Kongming! co-scriptwriter) as series screenwriter, Ryouta Arima (Hell’s Paradise co-chief animation director) as character designer, and Tsukasa Kotobuki (NG Kishi Ramune & 40 DX: Wakuwaku Jikuu – Honoo no Daisousasen character designer, Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island co-character designer) as original character designer. P.A. Works is handling the animation production for the series.
A manga adaptation by Tomomi Usui was launched in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine on March 4, 2024. A novel adaptation has also been announced and will be published at a later date.
Mayonaka Punch is described as a girls comedy that follows a group of “NewTubers” who create and upload videos to the “NewTube” video sharing website.
