New Sci-fi Comedy Manga Celebrates Serialization With Cute Anime Opening-style Trailer

The sci-fi comedy vertical manga Nunosanpo, which debuted on Shueisha’s Jump Toon on September 3 JST, has gotten an anime opening-style trailer to commemorate its serialization.

Nunosanpo‘s protagonist, Sanpo, is a middle school girl who likes to invent things, and that trait is shown in the trailer as she sets about building a rocket. We also see the other cast members, including the ribbon-like alien Nuno — in the manga, Nuno is looking for alien technology that is scattered across Earth, and Sanpo becomes involved with their search.

Ogaki (“Truth In Lies” music video assistant unit director) directed, storyboarded, and unit directed the trailer, while animator Hirono Nishiki, whose name has appeared in anime like My Dress-Up Darling and The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies, is credited as animation director. It’s not clear who handled the character designs, which retain the manga’s cute and simple feel but makes the humans look fleshier.

Other trailer staff credits include:

• Color designer, color coordinator, and finishing checker: Gen Horiuchi (Blue Archive the Animation Episode 7 color coordinator and finishing checker)
• Background art director: Yoshigoi
• Animation producer: Eiichi Ikegami (Arknights 6th Anniversary Anime PV)
• Animation production: STUDIO POLARIS

The song in the faux opening is “Itsumo no Machi ni” by in the blue shirt and featuring Sanpo, who is voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa.

The Nunosanpo manga is drawn by Ozu based on sci-fi author Yuba Isukara‘s scenario writing. The manga also includes Michiru Natsumoto as the alien relic artist and colourist and TOHO animation STUDIO as the producer in its credits and is labelled as a TOHO Original..
