Happinet has unveiled a new key visual and three additional cast members for the upcoming Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hougen Sugite Tsura Sugiru TV anime series. The anime will begin airing in Japan sometime in January 2025.
The three new cast members include Shino Shimoji as Yae Agena, Shugo Nakamura as Tensuke Uema, and Kentaro Kumagai as Isao Shimoji.
They join the anime’s main voice cast that stars:
- • Takeo Otsuka as Teruaki Nakamura
- • Akari Kito as Hina Kyan
- • Fairouz Ai as Kana Higa
- • Etsuko Kozakura as Okimemo Shisa
- • Tarusuke Shingaki as the narrator
Shin Itagaki (I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too) is serving as chief director and co-screenwriter of the anime adaptation, with Shingo Tanabe (I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too director) directing the series and also writing the screenplay.
Other staff include Tomohiro Yoshida (So I’m a Spider, So What? main animator) as character designer, Hotaka Fukumura (original manga’s dialect supervisor) as dialect coach, and Tomohisa Ishikawa (Obsolete), Yoshimi Katayama, and Ayano Kinjo as music composers. Millepensee is in charge of the animation production.
The anime is based on the Okinawa-themed romantic comedy manga by Egumi Sora, which began serialization on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website on January 10, 2020. The manga has released eight tankobon volumes as of February 2024.
Okinawa de Suki ni Natta Ko ga Hougen Sugite Tsura Sugiru follows the everyday life of Teruaki Nakamura, a transfer student who has trouble understanding the Okinawan dialect of his crush, Hina Kyan. Their classmate, Kana Higa, serves as an interpreter for Teruaki.
